Champlain’s Annual Picnic 2009

Katharine Naughton, Manager at Champlain Child Development Centre, was kind enough to invite me to Champlain’s annual picnic and barbeque last week. The first time I visited Champlain, it was rainy and dreary out, this time however, the weather was perfect for a barbeque. The teachers, parents and children were dressed in solid colors to go with the them of “Over the Rainbow” with many families also matching their apparel.

I forgot to take a picture of the food at this event, but the food was absolutely amazing. We had a large variety of meats, salads, pastas, fruit platters and desserts. Parents also brought their own foods. Some highlights for me include a delicious curried apple salad with raisins and samosas. The teachers also helped to prepare much of the food. I was able to join them in preparing some food in the kitchen, while talking to them about their job. Without a doubt, the teachers here are some of the most welcoming and friendly people I’ve ever met! I’m really looking forward to next years annual picnic and barbeque!
